Sol y Vida

Restaurante Sol y Vida is beautifully situated next to Cala Murada village on the side of the hill above the twin beaches Es Domingos Grans i Petits. It's not a place you are likely to stumble upon by chance, but for those in the know, it's well worth the longish drive from Palma. If you live, or are staying, anywhere in the south east of Mallorca, a visit really is a must. Make sure you make use of our map, and once you arrive in Cala Murada, carefully follow the signs to Sol y Vida. The road layout in Cala Murada is unusual and confusing, especially after dark!

The stunning position of Sol y Vida has been enhanced by the sympathetic renewal and refurbishment carried out when the present team took over in 2005, and the slow stroll down the wide steps to the restaurant while savouring the view is the first of many pleasures. When the weather is pleasant (most of the time!), the spacious terrace is naturally first choice for your table. Here you can enjoy the open air and sea breezes, the views along the coast and out to sea, and the sound of the waves on the rocks below. However, when the weather is not so friendly, and in the colder months, the views can still be enjoyed through the panoramic windows indoors, which will always be cosy thanks to the four bio-fuelled fireplaces.

Sol y Vida is a very attractive venue for weddings, christenings, birthdays, anniversaries, indeed any special event for up to 70 guests. A full professional service is offered, from menu and beverage selection to decoration, music selection, and reception of guests. Your special event can also be held at home and the Sol y Vida outside catering team is on hand to ensure the complete success of your special occasion.

The cuisine at Sol y Vida consists of a range of freshly prepared Mediterranean and International dishes created by Chef de Cuisine Jürgen Weinmüller. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner, the lunch offerings being generally smaller and lighter. For dinner, two set menus are available, as well as a good range of choice from the à la carte selection. Fresh fish and seafood are a speciality at Sol y Vida, and the two person plates are very popular. Sol y Vida's wine list features an international range of almost 100 quality wines, cavas and champagnes.

Because the menu is regularly changed in accordance with the seasonal products available, it would be wrong to highlight individual dishes in detail. However, it is true to say that every dish was visually a thing of beauty, created with care and attention to detail. The sauces and reductions were spectacular in flavour and, in each dish, the individual ingredients were allowed to speak for themselves, while blending together perfectly. There were also a number of unusual touches that had us talking and our whole meal was a great success. We should also mention the helpful and attentive serving team who made the experience even more of a pleasure. Judging by the contented buzz from the other tables, we were not alone!
