Ses Fonts Ufanes
Mallorca
These extraordinary springs near Campanet at the foot of Mallorca's Tramuntana mountains emerge as if by magic from the ground in the old holm oak woods on the Gabellí Finca. The flow of water, which occurs due to the aquifer overflowing after several days of rain, can be quite significant - up to 100 cubic metres a second.
To protect the water source, as well as the extraordinary beauty of Ses Fonts Ufanes, the Balearic Government declared the springs as a national monument in 2001, and acquired the estate itself in 2005.
It's a unique spectacle well worth the short walk, but wear waterproof footwear!
