Sóller: Hike away from the hustle and bustle to the best view over the valley

Nature & adventure Tours Outdoor sports Outdoor activities Viewing points Hiking

Away from the hustle and bustle, I'll show you the tranquil and picturesque sides of Sóller as we hike to a viewpoint that rewards us with a fantastic view over the valley to the harbor.

Highlights

  • Charming alleys of Sóller
  • Fantastic view over the orange valley all the way to the harbor
  • Fountain with fresh spring water
  • A really cool cemetery with some awesome sandstone sculptures

Description

We kick off the 2-hour tour at Sóller's main attraction: the impressive Sant Bartomeu church. With some interesting info about the church's history, we'll meander through Sóller's quiet alleys, past pretty houses, including some in Art Nouveau style. We keep following the water and reach the Font de S'Olla spring. We also pass the fountains with fresh spring water, so typical of Sóller, which are a welcome refreshment. A picturesque stairway takes us from the city into the forest, winding through pine, olive, and carob trees. After about half an hour of climbing (120 meters in altitude), we reach the tour's destination: the observation deck, which gives us a fantastic view over the orange valley all the way to the harbor. The way back takes us along a road that's barely used, and it keeps drawing our attention to the most impressive mountain in Mallorca, the Penyal de Migdia. In autumn, you can try the sweet fruits of the strawberry tree along the way. Just before we head back to the center of Sóller, we pass the last highlight of the tour: the Sóller cemetery. The ornate tombs and impressive sandstone sculptures, nestled among cypresses and palm trees against the stunning backdrop of the Serra de Tramuntana, make this burial ground truly unique. The tour combines Sóller's city history with a fantastic landscape in just a short time and with manageable effort. It's also perfect for those who already know Sóller and want to see it from a different angle. After the tour, you'll have plenty of time to shop or visit Port de Sóller on your own with the historic tram. I'd love to share my personal tips with you at the end of the tour for your further explorations.

Important Information

  • You should wear comfy shoes with a good tread. On hot days, make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and enough drinking water (we recommend 1 liter) or bring a reusable water bottle. Little kids are totally welcome, as long as they can be carried in a baby carrier. For older kids, I recommend a minimum age of 8 years.
