Lifestyle Traditional crafts

Pottery and ceramics are well established traditional crafts in Mallorca, particularly in the area of Pòrtol and Sa Cabaneta, villages in the Marratxi municipality near Palma.

Many of the old workshops were forced into closure by the mass produced metal substitutes, but a few survived and some new ones have opened up. The Amengual sisters, María, Cati, and Esperanza, are the fourth generation of their family to create handmade pottery, and their creations are a fusion of the knowledge passed down to them with the design influences gained at the Palma de Mallorca School of Art.

All of their pieces are handmade and are therefore unique and distinctive, and they will create pieces to order.
