Description
Situated within a charming early 20th-century Art Nouveau mansion, Can Prunera Modernist Museum greets visitors with its unique blend of organic, animal-inspired forms, making it an iconic attraction in the town of Sóller. Your visit commences on the ground and main floors, where you can explore original furniture pieces such as tables, chairs, beds, wardrobes, and ornate display cabinets, alongside a display of paintings and sculptures. Moving to the second floor, you'll encounter the exhibition titled 'From Art Nouveau to the 21st Century,' featuring a collection primarily from the Serra Art Collection, which has grown in recent years through generous donations from private collectors and artists to the Tren de l’Art Foundation, the overseeing entity of Can Prunera Modernist Museum. In the lower level, you can explore the areas affectionately referred to as 'botigues': a well-preserved vintage kitchen with a stove, olive oil tank, sink, and well; a former dining area for household staff, now hosting temporary exhibitions; and storage rooms dedicated to Juli Ramis, showcasing his works from three distinct periods – his early years, Cubist phase, and abstract creations. Within the garden, guests can admire the house's inner façade and a captivating collection of sculptures on display. Can Prunera Modernista Museum was inaugurated on August 24, 2009, coinciding with the celebration of Sóller's patron saint, Saint Bartholomew. Thanks to the great refurbishment of the building between 2006 and 2009, Can Prunera has obtained great recognition and has become an important landmark of Majorcan art nouveau.Includes
