Cycling in Mallorca

Cycling in Mallorca is a bit of a religion for locals and visitors who love the outdoors. And trust me, it’s not just about the views,though those are stunning,the island’s mix of coastal roads, mountain climbs, and quiet back lanes gives every ride a story.

In spring or fall, the weather’s just right, and you’ll find roads with almost no traffic, especially around Tramuntana. Serra de Tramuntana’s steep ascents, like the climb up Sa Calobra, test your legs but reward you with a view you won’t forget. If you prefer something less intense, the flat stretches around the Pla de Mallorca are surprisingly peaceful and lined with almond trees in season. And don’t overlook the coastal ride from Port de Pollença – the Mediterranean is usually sparkling blue, and there’s a fantastic little beachside café near Formentor that locals love.

Here’s a tip: early mornings are magic. Hit the road before the sun’s fully up, before other tourists crowd the roads. And if you’re renting bikes, check out specialized shops in Palma. One of my favorites, Rodi Bikes, knows the terrain and can set you up with equipment and local route maps. You’ll be far better off than just grabbing any rental. Cycling Mallorca is more than exercise,it’s a way to slow down and really see the island.
