Tips for family days in Mallorca

If you’re traveling with young kids, early mornings in Mallorca can be golden. Beaches tend to be less crowded then, which means less stress about space and safety. After some beach time, head into a nearby town like Alcudia or Pollença for lunch , both have little plazas perfect for kids to stretch their legs while you enjoy a coffee.

Oh, and renting a car is almost a must if you want to explore beyond Palma with the little ones. Public transport exists, but it’s not always reliable or easy with strollers. And trust me – the scenic drive from Palma to Sóller is worth it, especially with the old train ride. It’s simple, charming, and never gets old for the kids.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about family fun in Mallorca? Here are some things I’m often asked.

Absolutely. Beaches like Playa de Muro and Cala Mesquida have shallow, calm waters that are perfect for little ones. Just keep an eye on tides and look for the seasonal lifeguards.
I’d suggest walking the trails at S’Albufera Natural Park. It’s flat and easy with plenty of birds and wildlife to spot. Plus, it’s not far from Alcudia, which has lots of kid-friendly cafés.
The vintage Tren de Sóller is not just charming but also practical for families , the ride through the Tramuntana mountains is scenic, and kids love the train itself. The buses can get crowded, so I usually recommend renting a car if you’re going beyond Palma.
Palma Aquarium is a top choice. It's hands-on and fascinating for kids, plus a good way to get out of the sun or rain. There’s also Museo del Juguete (Toy Museum) in Palma, which is small but fun if your kids like vintage toys.
Many traditional Mallorcan restaurants are casual and kid-friendly, but I’ve found places like the markets in Santa Catalina really welcoming. They offer lots of quick bites , a lifesaver when you’ve got hungry little ones who don’t want to sit still for long.
