Day Cruises in Mallorca

Mallorca’s coastline is something you really have to experience by water at least once. Day cruises let you escape the crowds and spot parts of the island you wouldn’t find on foot, like hidden turquoise bays around Cala Figuera or the dramatic cliffs near Sa Dragonera. And trust me, the light reflecting off the Mediterranean in the afternoon is something else.

I’ve taken plenty of cruises from Port de Sóller and Palma, and one thing I love is how relaxed it feels compared to the tourist-packed beaches. Some boats stop for a swim close to Es Caló de s’Olla, a tiny pebble beach you can’t get to without a boat. Others will pass by Palma’s Cathedral from the sea, which gives you a fresh, stunning view of the city you’ll never forget.

If you’re into sailing, look out for traditional llaüts – the local wooden boats that have been around for centuries. They’re slow but smooth, perfect for a laidback day on the water. And a tip? Try a midday cruise in late spring or early autumn to dodge the summer heat and still get warm water swimming. Bring your own snacks or pack a picnic; some cruises don’t have food onboard but make up for it with amazing stops.
