Water Sports (non-boat) in Mallorca

Mallorca isn’t just about sailing or cruising along the coast. If you’re looking to get your feet wet without hopping onto a boat, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Stand-up paddleboarding is huge here, especially around quieter spots like Cala Mesquida or the calm waters near Port de Pollença. It’s chill, but also a bit of a workout,great way to see the coastline from a totally different angle.

Then there’s windsurfing and kitesurfing, particularly popular in the north at places like Playa de Muro or Can Picafort if the wind’s right, usually from late spring into early autumn. I’ve been out on windy days where the water flies and the sky feels endless,just unforgettable. And if you’re new to it, don’t hesitate to swing by one of the schools; they’re friendly and down to earth, not at all pushy.

If you want something more adventurous but low-key, snorkeling spots around the Cala Sant Vicenç coves are fantastic early in the morning before the tourists arrive. The underwater life there is pretty rich. Pro tip: bring water shoes – some rocky bits can surprise you. Mallorca’s beaches are often too crowded for a quiet swim midday, but these water sports let you carve your own little escape.
