Fishing & Sailing in Mallorca

Mallorca’s coastline is something else when you head out on a boat. You can fish off the rocks near Port d’Andratx, where the water’s clear and you’ll often spot a school of sargos or dentex. But be warned, it gets busy in summer, so early mornings are best for a peaceful line in the water.

Sailing around the island gives you access to little beaches and hidden caves you can’t reach any other way. I remember a trip around the northeast coast,just me, the sails, and the sound of the water. Cala Mesquida is stunning from the sea, and if the wind’s right, you can even drop anchor nearby and swim off the boat. For those wanting to learn, Mallorca has some solid sailing schools around Palma and Alcúdia that don’t mind friendly newbies.

One tip? Try timing your trip outside July and August. The water’s still warm, but you avoid the crowds, plus local fishermen tell me fish seem more eager then. And don’t bother packing a big tackle box; the harbour shops in Port de Sóller or Cala Ratjada have everything you’ll need. Trust me, fishing and sailing here is as simple or as chill as you want it to be.
