Kayaking / Paddle Sports in Mallorca

If you haven’t paddled around Mallorca’s coastline, you’re missing a seriously good way to see the island. Kayaking and paddleboarding aren’t just about exercise,they’re your ticket to quiet beaches and secret spots that the big boats never reach.

My favorite area to launch from is around Cala Figuera in the southeast. The water is calm, and the cliffs create little secluded bays where you can stop for a swim or just soak up the sun in peace. Bring a waterproof bag,trust me, your phone and wallet will appreciate it more than you think.

Spring and early summer tend to be the best times; the water’s warm enough to jump in, but the crowds haven’t invaded all the anchor points yet. If you’re more of a paddleboard person, you’ll find the gentle waves near Puerto de Pollensa ideal for learning or just cruising. Heads up though, when the Tramuntana wind kicks in, it’s fun but can be tricky if you’re new.

A quick local tip: rent your gear midweek if you can. The smaller shops in Portocolom or Cala d’Or are way friendlier and less expensive than the bigger rental places in Palma. Plus, they’ll tell you about secret spots where you’ll feel like the only person around.
